TIMES BONTANG, YOGYAKARTA – Taman Sari is an ancient park which was built by the 1st king of Yogyakarta, Sultan Hamengku Buwono I on 1684. This Park has become a popular tourist destination either for the domestic or international tourist.
The Taman Sari which is located on Patehan, Kraton, Yogyakarta has quiet strategic place since its located not far away from the 0 kilometers point of Yogyakarta.
To reach this place you could take any public transportation from Tugu railway station. Or you could just walk through the Taman Sari from the railway since it's not that far away from this place.
Its historical value and the beautiful architecture has attracted several people to visit this place. There are dozens of beautiful spot for you to take a picture.
The admission fee is so much affordable. You only need to pay for IDR 5 k for the domestic tourist and IDR 13 K for international tourist. If you brought a camera with you then you need to pay some additional fee for IDR 2.5 K.
The management also provide a local tour guide if you need to know more about the history. This place were formerly used as the royal pool where the king will take bath.
The place is divided into 4 areas. The artificial lake on the west wing, a pool which is located next to it, cemetery site next to the pool, and the several other beautiful spot line up on the east wing.
There are two interesting tunnel you need to check once you visit this place, the Urung-urung (tunnel) Timur with 45 meters long and Urung-urung Sumur Gumuling with 36 meters long.
